FALSE MOTIVE: ALL A SET-UP

The “motive” for the robbery was money that Caroline’s family had lent the couple to buy some land. They’d been given £43,000, and Anagnostopoulos claimed £10k was still in the house, hidden in a Monopoly box. Police found the box empty. The deeds to the land were later revealed to be in his name only.
