‘SEXUAL ABUSE’ PARENT ON TRIAL
Scott Walker, the stepfather of Bernadette Walker, is on trial for her murder. The teenager was last seen on 18 July 2020, and was reported missing by her mother Sarah three days later. Lisa Wilding QC told Cambridge Crown Court that, two days earlier, Bernadette told Sarah Scott “had been sexually abusing her over a number of years, [but Sarah] did not believe her.” It’s been claimed Scott killed Bernadette to stop her telling anyone and Sarah helped cover it up. The jury also heard how Sarah told a friend, “I think there’s something dodgy about the way he is behaving.” She denies perverting the course of justice. At time of press, the trial was ongoing.
