‘TAYLOR FELL OFF HIS CHAIR’
Alcohol is notorious for making fools of us all, and so it proved for a 48-year-old banker and former Royal Marine when he stopped off at the pub en route to a sentencing hearing at Guildford Crown Court in 2019. Darren Taylor had already been convicted of two counts of assault and one count each of stalking and criminal damage against his partner, but was so drunk when he arrived at court, proceedings had to be adjourned. Taylor fell off his chair, failed to answer to his own name, swore at the judge and squared up to dock officers. He then proceeded to remove his tie and jacket and throw them at his victim, before tearing off his shirt and stripping completely naked. He was eventually bundled out by security. A month after his bizarre outburst, he was back in court and sentenced to 15 months in prison.
