Out on Audible first, the audio version of this gritty Warrington-based police procedural smashed its way to the number one spot, and it’s easy to see why. Deeply rooted in the locale, it’s the compelling – and brutal – beginning of a new trilogy. When detective Brendan Foley is called to what looks like a dump site, 27 bodies are found in varying states of decay. The newest addition, though, hasn’t been there long – and his identity throws Foley’s life into turmoil. Soon, he is fighting to save his career , while plunging headfirst into huge trouble. Seriously good. ★★★★
