Begins writ­ing a novel un­der the pen name Lee Child af­ter re­dun­dancy from Granada TV. He starts all his books on the same date.

UK pub­li­ca­tion of Killing Floor. Reacher’s name comes from Child’s wife say­ing he’s a good “reacher” in a su­per­mar­ket.

Child’s 61 Hours wins the Theak­stons Old Pe­culier Crime Novel Of The Year Award, beat­ing Mark Billing­ham and S.J. Bolton.

26 DEC 2012

The UK re­lease of Jack Reacher, the movie ver­sion of One Shot (book nine), star­ring Tom Cruise, Rosamund Pike and Werner Herzog.

10 SEP 2014

Child throws the cer­e­mo­nial first pitch at the New York Yan­kees’ game against the Tampa Bay Rays – the Yan­kees won.

19 NOV 2015

Pub­li­ca­tion of Reacher Said Noth­ing, a “mak­ing of” ac­count cov­er­ing Child’s ob­ses­sion with lan­guage, his child­hood ill­ness and ad­dic­tion to cof­fee and cig­a­rettes.

7 NOV 2016

The re­lease of Night School, the 21st novel, co­in­cides with that of the movie se­quel Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, star­ring Tom Cruise and Co­bie Smul­ders.
