The Fizzics Waytap is a curious device. You take off the top, load a can of beer into it, lock the top back on and somehow, when you pull the lever on top, the beer that comes out of the spout tastes almost exactly like beer from a draught pump. It’s a feat apparently accomplished using sound. The results are mixed though – not because the process doesn’t work, but because it works best with specific types of beer. Cans of lager didn’t noticeably benefit, nor did bottles of ale, but cans of ale loved it.
The Waytap smoothed out the excess fizziness of the canned ale, and the resulting pint had the same smoothness you’d expect if it had come straight from the pump in a pub. The Waytap is easy to clean, easy to use and does wonders for the right drink. Whether that justifies the price is really down to how much you like ale, the quality of your local pub and whether it’s easier to buy cans or bottles of ale where you live.
