Get stretching
Further to the article ‘Back Pain’ by Dr Graham Theobald (CW July 3) and having contacted you previously about maintaining the right balance to keep fit for all levels of cycling, I still adhere to the pre and post-exercise stretching routines; these can be of your own design and are easily completed. I find Pilates-type stretching supplemented with Swiss ball use to be excellent for maintaining the body’s suppleness and durability for active cycling; all related exercises can be easily found online. Warm up and down at all times to avoid any niggling or lasting injuries and you will feel the long-term benefits every time.
