Dani Rowe looking to learn tactics from Vos

-

British rider Dani Rowe is hoping that being on the same team as cycling legend Marianne Vos will help her improve her tactical thinking as she heads into her first season with new team Woawdeals.

Rowe joined the Dutch squad over the winter and attended her first training camp with the team in Calpe, Spain, last week.

Speaking ahead of the camp she said: “Sometimes last year I felt that my strength was there but I’m struggling with what to do in this or that situation.”

She added: “What I’m looking to learn is bike craft and tactical nous to really take a step up. Marianne Vos is clearly one of the most incredible women to come out of pro cycling, not just road but every discipline so if I can learn from anyone it will be her.”

“People like Vos and Lizzie Deignan, those top, top girls have been doing these races for 10 years and some of these races I’m doing for the first time. Even in 2017 going into some races I’d done the year before, so my second time, I felt like I was already one up. Knowing the races gives you so much more confidence you are almost one ahead of the game.”

Rowe’s first target of the season will be the Commonwealth Games where she will pull on the Welsh jersey she first wore at the Track National Championships last month.

She will then be looking for good results in the Women’s Tour and the Tour de Yorkshire alongside the Crescent Vårgårda in Sweden and the GP de Plouay.
