The last two editions have seen a BMC rider on the general classification podium but both times the top step has eluded them. This time, without their star men, who are instead at the Vuelta a España, a top three might be a stretch too far but they’ll still be making their mark on the race.
Stefan Kûng finished third in 2017 and will be their protected rider, as well as captain in the team time trial, a discipline that they are two-time world champions in and recent winners of the Tour de France stage. Jempy Drucker will threaten in the sprint stages.
