What’s the best cycling app?
Rainalarm. It will send you notifications when rain is heading in your direction, giving you an indication of the size and intensity of the approaching shower. Kirk Vitty
Chain Reaction. Only downside is that it seems to empty my bank account. Conor Clarke
Met Office. Tells me where I’m going or if I’m having a day inside. Lewis Hutchison
St John Ambulance First Aid For Cyclists. I think this is a great app, not only telling you how to perform first aid for a variety of injuries but also includes clear diagrams. Kevin Saunders
I love Strava! Here in South Africa the segments are all marked and you can follow your mates. Not sure how good it is in the rest of the world but everyone here loves it! Warren Lee Moult
My Samsung S5 with Samsung health app built in phone... simple but effective and gives me info I need. Shean Walsh
Trainerroad. Awesome app run by very committed people. Paul Savage
For comparing against myself, Garmin Connect. For seeing how I am against others, and generally depressing myself, Strava. Matt Halliday
Tour Tracker. You can follow Grand Tours plus other races. Dave Daniels
Komoot. Best route planner out there. Ian Lawrence
Can’t believe none of your users have so far mentioned Endomondo. It’s a great alternative to Strava IMHO, and you don’t lose out on the features. Emma Davies Fill That Hole. This app allows the user to report a defect in the road surface via Cyclinguk. I’ve had good results in getting potholes sorted. Stewart Wilkins
Youtube. I can learn lots about cycling and getting fitter without even leaving my chair! Pete Smyth
Bike Computer. Don’t let the plain title of this app put you off — it’s a good one. It features all of the usual bike computer functions plus Strava compatibility. The deal-breaker for me was the large number readout for your speed. At last I can see how slow I am going. Graham Black
Next Week’s big question…
