Katie archibald on neah evans

Cycling Weekly - - INTERVIEW -

“I met her at Revolution Glasgow in 2015. I’d just heard there was a new person on the Scottish Cycling programme. “She won one of the sprints in a points race and I remember thinking, ‘Woah!’ because a gap opened up and at first I thought, I’ll get on the back of this but she was gone. It was a serious turn of pace but then she went bang and that was race over. She’s not really lost that speed but she can do it again and again now. “She’s blunt, very chatty once you get her going. She’s very intelligent. “She just stands out — I mean that as a compliment. No one wants to be normal and she’s not normal. She’ll do something weird and you’ll roll your eyes and be like, ‘She was home schooled.’ We’ll make fun of her about that and she’ll say, ‘I was socialised, I went to pony club,’ and we’ll be like, ‘Yeah, that makes you sound really normal now.’ “She’s confident in her opinion but not forceful with her voice. And she’s very fast.”
