These tights are surprisingly lightweight, made from a brushed-back thermal fabric that is also water resistant with a nanotechnology finish, according to Altura.

The Pro 3D chamois is excellent — comfortable without being too fat. There are plenty of reflectives including the entire cuff and a slightly feminine gym-bunnyinspired printed pattern on the lower leg.

No zips feature, but the stretchy bib and mesh straps go on and off easily, and comfort breaks are unhindered. There are two high mesh pockets at the rear for valuables or gels, where a radio pocket would be, which are not reachable when riding. The zipless ankle cuffs, which have a rubberised inner surface to stop them riding up, are not so easy to get over a foot and unfortunately the seams on both lower legs were not robust enough to withstand the amount of stretch necessary.

A large amount of thought has gone into the Race Nanos but a tougher construction is necessary and a tougher aesthetic would be nice to have.
