A fleece-backed nylon/elastane mix is used throughout the lower part of the Sportfuls, in the exactly the same ingredient percentages as the widely used Roubaix fabric, well known for its thermal and breathability qualities. As well as being warm, the fabric is also super stretchy, which means it’s pretty body-hugging.

For wind resistance, Sportful has doubled up on the fabric at the front from stomach to shin, allowing the rest of the tights to be lighter and unrestrictive.

The bibs use a laser-cut lie-flat design, which spreads the pressure across the whole of the upper, while at the other end the calves are showered in subtle reflective dots and closed with zips at the ankle. The Total Comfort pad is good for long winter club runs and stayed in place well too.

We do think a DWR coating would have given these tights a wider application and it’s a shame the calf reflectives are half covered up by overshoes. Hence these are good but not awardwinning tights.
