Celia Ten­nant

Cly­des­dale Colts’s aim is to in­tro­duce young peo­ple to all dis­ci­plines of cy­cling and with Celia Ten­nant at the helm they have been hugely suc­cess­ful. With the help of her com­mit­tee the club now have 150 children par­tic­i­pat­ing in week­end ses­sions, with sum­mer evening train­ing too. They even have a wait­ing list for new join­ers.

Glyn Dur­rant

When he stopped rac­ing 25 years ago, Glyn Dur­rant be­gan work­ing hard be­hind the scenes of the Sur­rey Cy­cle Rac­ing League, tak­ing over the run­ning of the league five years ago. Dur­rant runs the ac­counts and ad­min, risk as­sesses races, up­loads re­sults, li­aises with clubs and co­or­di­nates a cal­en­dar of over 150 races for around 1,300 riders.

Deb­bie Whar­ton

It is fair to say that Geraint Thomas may never have won the Tour de France with­out Deb­bie Whar­ton. And he’s just one of many top riders to have learnt from Whar­ton at Cardiff’s Maindy Fly­ers. In the mid-90s Whar­ton was charged with bring­ing the Maindy track back to life and cre­ated the now fa­mous club where she con­tin­ues to coach.
