Rowe has long had powerful legs, but her tactical racing improved in 2018, taking her to a consistently high level. Although her biggest win was the Welsh Criterium Championships, her third place at the Women’s Tour, third in the Commonwealth Games road race and second in the Tour de Yorkshire GC, showed that a win in the sport’s top flight is within her grasp. A shame then that she retired at the end of the season.
