Fear of the Wild

Cycling Weekly - - CW AWARDS -

“I have a very respectful fear for Kirsten Wild,” says Archibald after a long pause when we ask if there’s any rival she fears. “When I was a smaller fish she had always been a rider that commanded a lot of respect in the bunch. With Kirsten, the first time I raced with her was the 2016 European omnium [Archibald won]; she was delightful afterwards. She was almost excited for me, which is probably a reflection of her. She doesn’t take any crap on the road or the track and you don’t give her any. At London Six Day she’ll be the one who says this isn’t going to send us to the Olympics, it’s not for national federation, just ride safe. She’ll race hard on the track but off it she’s wildly kind.”
