Looking for: Van Avermaet and Trentin for stage wins, Zakarin for the top 10

Cycling Weekly - - TEAMS -

The departures of Richie Porte and Rohan Dennis left Greg Van Avermaet as team leader, and he brings experience and stage win potential.

The team has signed Italian fastman Matteo Trentin, a Tour stage winner last year who was second in the Yorkshire Worlds too. He is brimming with potential, although a quiet start post-lockdown with a two fourth-place finishes in Burgos and Wallonie suggest he has a little to make up before he can win a Tour bunch sprint.

CCC’S other big signing, Russian Ilnur Zakarin, could potentially challenge on GC,

but his ninth place in 2018 was followed by 51st in last year’s Tour, and an anonymous ride at the Tour of Poland doesn’t bode particularly well either.
