Local knowledge

I saw with interest your archive photo from Mam Tor (CW, 8 April) and note the uncertainty as to where the photo was taken from. I have some knowledge of the area and can say with absolute certainty that the scene behind the riders is the southern flank of the Green Ridge which slopes down into the Hope Valley and Castleton. In which case I think the photo must have been taken just above the old hairpin on the Old Mam Tor Rd which swung round under the eastern slopes of the tor.
