CW5000 March challenges

-

This month the CW5000 brings in the first challenge designed to push your mileage a little further. Previous challenges this year have focused on consistent riding and trying something different, but as spring approaches we can all get some bigger rides in. And we have a popular photo-based challenge repeated from last year. The sunset/ sunrise challenge requires lights, camera, a ride with a view and a weather window. You can post your photos on the Facebook group, or email them to cycling@futurenet.com. Be sure to tell us where they were taken. It’s not too late to sign up to the challenge. If you do, you can include all your mileage already logged since 1 January. www.cyclingweekly.com/cw5000

1 Do a ride at sunset or sunrise

While this challenge doesn’t necessarily require a big ride – especially if you’re lucky enough to have a nice view at the end of your road – it will need you to keep an eye on the weather forecast and the sunrise and sunset times throughout the month. Try and get your bike into the image if you can and be sure to let us know where the image was taken. The What3words app is perfect for pinpointing and sharing any far-flung, idyllic locations in the middle of the countryside. Cityscapes also welcome, if that’s your thing.

2 Complete 150 miles in one week

Are you ready for your first big mileage challenge of the year? Now the days are slowly getting noticeably longer and hopefully – dare we tempt fate – a bit warmer too, we thought it was about time to push your mileage up. The average weekly target for hitting the 5,000 miles per year mark is 96, so this is significantly higher than that. Virtual miles do of course count for this challenge.
