Basso pioneered new brazing techniques

Alcide Basso built his company on specialist production techniques, developing a brazing system that used copper and silver solder and could be worked at under 500°C. This helped retain the integrity of thin steel tubes while creating strong joints. Basso also developed its own ‘stronger’ bottom brackets, made from stamped, welded sheet as opposed to cast from molten metal.
