Fulcrum Speed 40 CMPTZN DB wheels

To save weight, Fulcrum has removed all the vowels from the word ‘ competizione ’ to create its latest Speed 40 CMPTZN DB wheels. Actually the weight saving of 10g compared to the NON-CMPTZN wheels comes mainly from the inclusion of CULT ceramic bearings, which Fulcrum says makes the wheels nine times smoother than standard bearings, saving a claimed 3.5 watts overall.

In total the wheelset weighs in at a svelte 1,460g and comes with a 40mm rim depth and 19mm inner rim width. It is tubeless-compatible and suitable for tyres ranging from 23mm all the way up to 50mm.

The styling has also undergone a revamp, with minimalist black logos barely visible on the all-black carbon weave rims, which are laced to new matt black carbon hubs. The overall look is now darker than a Nick Cave song and will certainly add a stealth vibe to any race bike.
