About a year ago, so the story goes, DMT’S new KR shoes were just prototypes being tested by a young up-and-coming pro rider called Tadej Pogačar. Then the 22-year-old went and won the 2020 Tour de France and so

DMT decided the shoes were probably good enough to be put into full production.

Vibrant maillot jaune appearance aside, the upper of the KR is visually striking thanks to its 3D Knit construction. According to DMT each upper is seamless, constructed from a single continuous yarn that one machine takes 45 minutes to weave into shape. DMT says that the uppers’ variable knit thickness, achieved using a combination of different knit structures, affords the shoes breathability in some areas but firmer support in others.

The lace closure system threads through corded eyelets that are anchored into the sole, which aims to ensure that despite the highly conformable nature of the upper the rider’s foot is held securely.

Pogačar’s emphatic 2020 victory is celebrated in these limited-edition colour KRS, but if yellow doesn’t match your kit, the design will soon be available in more conventional colour options.
