I rarely do super-long rides but, controversially, the few I do are almost never in summer. Who wants to waste time slogging away getting a sunburnt neck with a sweat-soaked nappy strapped to your bum when you could be sitting on a beach or in a pub beer garden after an early-morning fast ride? That time of day it isn’t too hot, and quicker rides are always more fun.

For those occasions, the Syncros Belcarra V1.0 saddle fits my nether regions nicely when in an aggressive ride position. Surprisingly the brown cover tends to look good on any bike too, just like tan wall tyres.
