Oakley Custom Mainlink glasses
£195, oakley.com
As Cilla once said, that’s a lorra lorra money, but I reckon with the Mainlinks you get two for one, as these shades tread the tightrope between on and off the bike. The build is light, Unobtanium arms and nosepiece grippy, and thus fit and feel is solid for cycling, yet classic styling means they’re casual enough for the pub (seriously, you shouldn’t wear those Oakley Sutros without a helmet).
Too casual perhaps? Judged by the trend towards windscreen-sized lenses, possibly, but Custom Mainlinks offer superior clarity thanks to their
Prizm Polarized lenses, which make cycling vision clearer by filtering certain light wavelengths in order
to enhance others.
