7 RECLINING HAND TO BIG TOE

-

Cyclists may have toned, powerful calves but they can also be cripplingly tight, as can the hamstrings. This pose provides a great stretch, and you can modify it by bending your right leg and bringing the sole of your right foot flat on the mat if that helps you to keep your hips level.

• Lie down on your back and loop a strap or belt around the ball of your left foot. Straighten your left leg up to the sky and press through your heel. Deepen your breath and draw your leg in towards you on every exhalation. The crucial element of this pose is keeping your stretched leg straight regardless of how high you can lift it.

• Hold for 10 breaths on each side.
