The cap is without doubt the coolest piece of kit any cyclist owns, but a tendency to dwell on their aesthetic merit often overshadows just how useful they are. A comfortable, wellmade cap like this one from Le Col is ideal for the unpredictability of the British weather, and it has been in fairly constant use this year – mostly to keep out the fairly constant bouts of rain. Whether we get an early winter, an Indian summer or something in between, it’s sure to be a staple on my rides between now and next summer.
