What is Ineos Sport?

If Brailsford moves there, it will mean more sports and possibly more controversy

-

As well as the Ineos Grenadiers cycling team, Ineos owner Jim Ratcliffe has been amassing a portfolio of sporting interests, from Formula One to sailing, football and, most recently, rugby, with Ineos signing a six-year deal to become ‘official performance partners’ of the All Blacks.

Ratcliffe is assembling all his sporting interests beneath one umbrella organisation, Ineos Sport, with Sir Dave Brailsford apparently the man he has selected to run it. Currently the stable includes the cycling team, the football clubs OCG Nice and FC Lausanne, the Ineos Americas Cup sailing team and the Mercedes-amg Petronas F1 team.

It has prompted accusations of ‘sportswashing’ to be levelled at Ineos, a multinational chemical company and major producer of disposable plastic. But Ratcliffe, in adding yet more sports to his portfolio, seems undaunted in his ambition to gather together some of the world’s top sports teams under the Ineos name.
