Alan McGee to host Q&A at screening of new Oasis movie

THE man who signed Oasis will be coming to Aberdare this Friday to take part in a Q&A as part of the screening of new Oasis documentar­y – Supersonic.

Former Creation Records boss Alan McGee who famously spotted the band at a gig at Glasgow venue King Tuts Wah Wah Hut in 1993 wil be talking about the life at the eye of the storm as the Gallagher brothers bestrode all before them in the ’90s becoming one of the biggest bands in the history of rock ’n’ roll.

The Supersonic documentar­y, from award-winning director Mat Whitecross, tells the remarkable story of the iconic band – in their own words.

Featuring extensive unseen archive, Supersonic charts the meteoric rise of Oasis from the council estates of Manchester to some of the biggest concerts of all time in just three short years shiningini­ng a light on one of the most generation-deefining British bands that has s ever existed.

The filmmakers - which also includes Academy Award-winning producers James Gay Rees and Asif Kapadia - the team behind Amy Winehouse documentar­y AMY - have been given unpreceden­ted access to the band.

Liam and Noel Gallagher have both supported the making of the documentar­y, and have provided what the directors describe as “a rare and candid insight into their world” along with never before seen archive material from theirt private collection­s.c The film will be screened at The Coliseum, Aberdare, on Friday, Octob ber 14.
