It’s almost that time of year again – oh yes it is!
STELLA star Di Botcher will lead the cast in this year’s Christmas panto at theatres in Rhondda Cynon Taff.
Following on from last year’s successful Cinderella, the bells are ringing out for a new production of the traditional family panto Dick Whittington, which will be staged at two theatres in the runup to Christmas.
The show is at the Coliseum Theatre in Aberdare from Thursday, December 1, to Wednesday, December 14.
That will be followed by a week of shows at Treorchy’s Park and Dare Theatre from Sunday, December 18, to Saturday, December 24.
It wouldn’t be an RCT panto without everyone’s favourite panto dame Frank Vickery – who’ll be playing Sarah the Cook.
Di Botcher, who’ll be known to many as Auntie Brenda from Sky 1’s smash hit comedy Stella written by Ruth Jones and filmed in the Rhondda, takes a starring role as Fairy Bowbells.
And RCT’s very own Lee Gilbert will play King Rat, alongside Maxwell James as the hero Dick Whittington.
A statement from the RCT Arts Service, run by the local authority, said: “This sparkling production is guaranteed to be the highlight of your festive calendar.
“Join Dick and his faithful cat as they take you on a magical high seas adventure meeting a whole host of colourful characters along the way.
“With heaps of com- edy, magical special effects, spectacular scenery and a fantastic cast - this glittering treat has all the purr-fect ingredients for a swashbuckling adventure!
“This is the sixth year running that RCT Theatres has produced its own traditional family panto, working with renowned writer and director Richard Tunley and a cast of outstanding Welsh talent - and this year is no different.”
Tickets cost £15 for adults, and £12 for children and concessions.
A ticket for a family of four is £48.
