FRIENDS from Llwydcoed who became stranded at Pontypridd Train Station after one of them fainted on their way home are on the hunt to find the strangers who came to their aid.

TWO friends who became stranded at Pontypridd train station after one of them fainted on their way home are on the hunt to find the strangers who came to their aid.

Shian Pope, from Llwydcoed, near Aberdare, and her friend Sarah had been out in Cardiff city centre on Saturday, July 8, with friends when they decided to get the last train to Aberdare just after 10.30pm.

But when they got about halfway home, Sarah fainted and had to get off the train.

Luckily a group of Samaritans looked after them and gave them a coat, drinks and even flipflops.

Shian said: “We were out in Cardiff and we caught the last train home.

“My friend fainted on the train and we had to get off in Pontypridd due to her being so ill. We had to carry her off the train.”

After being left on their own at the station, and with no emergency help on the way, Shian and Sarah were left stranded – until some friendly faces came to help.

She said: “A young guy and a young lady actually went to get us some help.

“The lady left us her jacket because my friend was shivering, and I since have had contact with them to say thank you which has been really nice.

“Street Pastors came and stayed with us until the ambulance arrived, and the ambulance probably arrived 20 minutes later. I have to say, they were absolutely amazing.

“They also gave us flipflops. My face when he pulled out the pair of flipflops just to get my stilettos off my feet!

“We even had a gentleman who was sitting in the station eating his chips give us his can of pop.

“And a gentleman from Trealaw wouldn’t leave our side until the ambulance turned up, and he had to get a taxi home from Pontypridd as he was determined not to leave us on our own.“

Shian took to social media after the ordeal to try and find out who the good samaritans were – and now her post on Facebook has been shared more than 1,000 times.

She said: “I just went into panic mode because Sarah’s pulse was weakening.

“We were on the phone to the ambulance, and even though there were three of us looking after her, none of us were medically trained. I just want to say a massive, massive thank you.

“People are so helpful and it’s nice to know humanity exists.”
