THE Rose made a tremendously successful trip to the Farmers Arms running out emphatic winners by a 8-1 scoreline.

The Grecian Boys John Wood and Phil John 140 got the visitors off to a winning start with victory over A Price and Trevor Jones and 1-0 quickly became 2-0 with Liam Russell 100 and Kristian Dowd breaking the throw of Dai Jones and Steve Hamer 100 apiece. Rhys Donovan and Stuart Hughes 121 then made it 3-0 with a hold over S Lewis and Wayne Morgan as the sides prepared for the singles games.

Kristian Dowd kept the ball rolling for the Rose with a break over Trevor Jones in the first singles and then it became 5-0 with John Wood holding over A Price. A splendid showing from Stuart Hughes 125, 140 saw him make it 6-0 with a break over Dai Jones before Wayne Morgan 180 finally got a point for the hosts with a fine break over Liam Russell. Phil John 100 returned the Rose to the attack with victory over S Lewis with Steve Evans 125 then completing the scoring for the visitors with a last leg hold over Steve Hamer 125.

Any teams who did not hand in their Singles/ Doubles entry forms in the meeting on Tuesday night must get them in by 12pm on Sunday, July 23 in order to be registered to play in this season’s competitions. No entries will be allowed after this cut-off time.

Registration forms are now available for the 2017/2018 season of the Worthington’s Merthyr and District Darts League. All teams are welcome to join. Entries to be returned to the AGM to be held on Tuesday, August 29 at the Merthyr Club starting at 8.30pm.
