A dead moth at lunchtime

A CUSTOMER at a McDonald’s in Aberdare spotted a large dead moth in her chicken wrap.

She went into the fast food restaurant “as a treat”.

THIS was the sight that greeted a fast food diner when she opened her lunch last Thursday to find what appeared to be a large dead moth.

The woman, who did not want to be named, had gone with a group of friends to the McDonald’s restaurant in Aberdare, Cynon Valley, as a midweek “treat” and ordered one of the chain’s chicken wraps.

“I only opened the wrap to take the salad out, otherwise I wouldn’t have bothered,” she said.

“Obviously you don’t tend to check for things like that do you?

“I just saw it and said, ‘What the hell is that?’ and the girls all came over to look and screamed. I just felt sick.”

She said she spoke to staff, who offered her a replacement meal, which she “obviously turned down”, before refunding her the £2.99.

She said she’d never seen anything like it, adding: “I will never go [back to that store] again.”

A McDonald’s spokeswoman said: “Food quality and safety are of the utmost importance to us and we place great emphasis on quality control, following rigorous standards in order to avoid any imperfections, and it seems this time we didn’t quite meet those standards.

“As soon as this matter was brought to our attention, the restaurant team launched an internal investigation and found no other products were affected.

“The restaurant team apologised and offered a full refund.”
