TWO children and their foster mum have climbed Snowdon to help raise money for charity.

The siblings, who are from Aberdare, completed the huge challenge last month, and even spurred on the adults who walked with them.

Now the pair of foster children are hoping to raise as much money as possible through their fundraising page for fostering and adoption charity The Adolescent and Children’s Trust (TACT) Cymru.

They were joined by their long-term foster mum Joy Burke, 58, who said: “I am extremely proud of my family and especially the children who completed the challenge of walking Snowdon on July 22.

“Some parts were extremely difficult, but the children motivated the adults to complete the challenge.

“Thank you to everyone who supported our fundraiser, as the money raised will benefit the children and young people in care with TACT.

“The children will be holding several other events to increase the total of money raised.”

The children – an eightyear-old boy and 10-yearold girl – have been in care for five years and are both passionate and regular mountain walkers.

And Joy’s daughter and partner, who is a member of the the Royal Air Force Mountain Rescue Service, also joined for the trek up to the peak at an impressive 1,085m.

She said: “TACT has been a constant support for me through our journey as a foster family and we feel we want to show our gratitude by fundraising for such a worthy cause, allowing other children to have a fresh start and brighter future that they deserve.

“I foster because I care, but unfortunately I cannot help every child. That is why I am turning to other people for help.

“The funds our family challenge raises can change lives.”
