Strong show but Aberdare lacking the killer touch

kick and see it float over his head into the net. This goal out of nothing certainly hit Town’s confidence already brittle from the campaign’s poor start and Croesai looked to gain from this as Matt Flynn desperately cleared a cross ball destined for an onrushing player.

But again the next goal again arrived out of the blue as no more than an hopeful Matt Edmonds ball into the Town penalty somehow found its way to a gleeful Jordan Jones who bundled home for a one goal lead.

But despite this reversal Town showed great spirit as they attempted to clamber their way back into contention with Flynn hitting just wide and Haggett forcing Doidge into a smart stop.

But as has been the case all season a lot of huffing and puffing never really gave great hope that an equalizer would come and Croesy saw out time and travelled back East with the three points wrapped up.

Not a horror show, even with an Halloween party at the clubhouse that night, but desperately needing to take advantage from no little possession.

Matt Flynn was Town’s man of the match strongly pushed by debutant Williams with strong displays by Tandy, Jones, Holder and Glassey. No side has outplayed Town all season which, on early evidence remains a rather mediocre league and should the goal scoring problem be quickly resolved, then gives no reason why Town cannot climb away from the bottom places.

This Saturday, Town face a tough encounter as they travel to top of the table Caldicot, but knowing that if they display the same commitment but find their shooting boots that there is no reason they cannot make the long return journey home with a result
