Pub which appeared in TV show up for auction
A POPULAR pub which featured on a TV show Stella is going under the hammer.
The Rose and Crown, which, according to a Facebook page set up by fans, was used to portray a pub called the Cock Inn in Sky One’s Stella, is to be sold at auction on Tuesday, February 27.
Located on Eglwysilan Road in Abertridwr, near Caerphilly, the SA Brain-owned pub recently closed and the company is looking to sell it on.
Sidney Phillips is dealing with the property, which has a guide price of £265,000.
A spokeswoman for Sidney Phillips said this is an “opportunity to purchase a renowned destination public house occupying an outstanding rural location within 30 minutes’ drive from Cardiff City centre”.
According to a fan Facebook page, the Rose and Crown was used to portray a pub just outside the fictional town of Pontyberry, that Beyonce Evans (played by Remy Beasley) worked in.
The auction, which will start at 2.30pm, is going to be held at The Pontygwindy, Pontygwindy Road, Caerphilly.
With approximately 6.6 acres of land, the character cottage-style, stonebuilt pub in an “affluent commuter village” is said to have “huge potential” as a destination dining venue.
There are five trading areas to the property, along with a large, fourbedroom flat.
Inside, the L-shaped bar room, there’s a heavily beamed-effect ceiling and walls, carpeted floor throughout, a feature stone fireplace with a wood-burner and dining chairs and tables for 60 customers.
Upstairs, you’ll find private accommodation with four bedrooms.
Three of the rooms come are en-suite, and the rest of the space is made up of a large lounge, a separate shower room, a kitchen and dining area with doors to a roof garden.
