’Tis the season to be jolly at The Falcon Inn Retreat
THERE has been plenty of work going on behind the scenes and now The Falcon Inn Retreat in Aberdare is accepting bookings for its festive programme.
Christmas is set to be celebrated in style at the popular venue and there are also special offers on throughout October and November.
They all add up to make this hidden gem by the River Aman a must-visit destination with its dining room, conservatory, country bar/function room and accommodation. So how is December shaping up? Traditional Christmas meals will be served throughout the month from Thursday to Sunday.
Two courses (£14.95) or three courses (£16.95) are available, with booking essential.
But there is more, a lot more in the form of entertainment.
December 7: Christmas meal plus soul music with Jeff Granger (£19.95/£21.95).
December 8: Christmas meal plus music throughout the years with Joel Blake and a free return taxi to Aberdare town (£19.95/£21.95).
December 14: Ladies Night for strictly over-18s. Ticket only (£14).
December 15: Christmas dinner and dance cabaret with Jeris Spencer and a free return taxi to Aberdare town (£19.95/£21.95).
December 16: Visit Santa’s grotto for £4 or have dinner with Santa for £10. Booking essential.
December 20: Psychic night with Natalie Churchill (£8). Tickets only.
December 21: Spend Black Friday with The Guy That Gets The Girl, a Pontypridd-based covers band which plays everything from rock ’n’ roll to disco and ‘80s pop. It is free entry. What about October and November? If you are looking for a venue to hold your birthday/engagement/special occasion party, you can hire the Falcon’s hall afternoon or evening for £30 plus a £50 refundable deposit. On Fridays and Saturdays there are two meals for £10 deals. Choose from steak and ale pie, hunter’s chicken, tagliatelle mamma mia with lamb or vegetarian meatballs, fish and chips, chicken curry, beefburger and chips, and margherita, pepperoni or meat feast pizzas. What other tasty treats are there? There is afternoon tea/coffee with handmade cakes. You can eat in or take away for £12 per person on Friday and Saturdays from 1pm to 6pm. Note that 24 hours’ notice is required.
Every Sunday roast beef, turkey, chicken or a vegetarian option with four seasonal vegetables, creamy mashed and roast potatoes, honey roasted parsnips, Yorkshire pudding and homemade gravy is available to eat in or take away. Opening hours: Through October and November it is open on Fridays from 3pm until 11pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from noon until 11pm.
In December, opening times on Thursdays and Fridays are from 3pm to 11pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 11pm.
