Nuffield Health sponsors 5th WRU Sports Medicine Conference
NUFFIELD Health Cardiff & Vale Hospitals were one of the sponsors of the annual Sports Medicine Conference of the Welsh Rugby Union, held earlier this month at the Principality Stadium. Now in its fifth year, the full day educational event attracted the highest number of delegates to date.

WRU national team doctor and consultant sports physician at Nuffield Health Dr Geoff Davies was joint conference organiser with WRU medical manager Prav Mathema.
Speakers included leading sports consultants, physiotherapists, radiologists, surgeons and performance-science specialists. This year there was a session on mental health in sport, which saw presentations from Andries Pretorius, CEO of Welsh Rugby Players Association and Dr Guy Evans, chief medical officer at British Swimming, who is also a consultant at Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital.
Dr Davies said: “We are immensely grateful to Nuffield Health here in Cardiff for kindly sponsoring this event once again. This year we have broadened our horizons to include mental health which was an invaluable addition.
Support from WRU and sponsorship enables the conference to be free of charge to delegates which is to be commended and we hope to continue in this format in future.”
Hospital director at Nuffield Health Cardiff & Vale Hospitals, Simon Rogers commented: “Our specialists at both the Vale and Cardiff Bay Hospitals have a strong track record in treating rugby and football players from youngsters to professionals to return them to their sport.
