Driver cut from car af­ter crash

A WOMAN was cut free from a car af­ter it left the Rhi­gos Moun­tain Road.

The road was par­tially blocked be­tween Tre­herbert and Rhi­gos on Thurs­day, Novem­ber 1.

South Wales Fire and Res­cue Ser­vice said crews used hy­draulic cut­ting equip­ment to free the woman who was later taken to hos­pi­tal.

The crash in­volved one car and a woman suf­fered mi­nor in­juries, ac­cord­ing to South Wales Po­lice.

A po­lice spokes­woman said they were called to the crash at 6.25pm.

Three fire crews from Tre­orchy, Hir­waun and Merthyr Tyd­fil at­tended the scene, and left at around 8.30pm.

Traf­fic mon­i­tors said the ve­hi­cle left the car­riage­way on the Rhi­gos side of the moun­tain and that the air am­bu­lance was called to the scene.

The large amount of emer­gency ser­vices at the scene are block­ing the road. A Welsh Am­bu­lance Ser­vice spokesman said “sev­eral” crews were called to the scene just be­fore 7pm on Thurs­day.
