Paranormal club’s spooktacular way to support Children in Need

MEMBERS of a Blaenau Gwent paranormal society have spent 12 hours locked in a haunted institute to raise money for charity.

Ebbw Vale Paranormal Society have described their hair-raising experience investigating the supernatural at Royal Cwmaman Hall.

For the first time in the group’s history, members of the public were invited to the event on November 16 to raise money for Children in Need.

Now, following the night’s success, the group has said it will open up more events in future to share their discoveries.

Group member Kimberly Jones said the 15-strong group encountered a number of “unexplainable” incidents after spending a full night in the Valleys hall dating back to 1892.

The locations manager for the society said: “Some parts were eerier than others, it was absolutely pitch black.

“A few decided not to sleep and carried on investigating throughout the evening, they were troopers.

“We were in one area doing a calling out to spirits to communicate with us and the temperature just dropped three or four degrees.

“It happened within seconds and then went back to normal – it was really unexplainable.

“We heard a growl, we heard knocks and bangs. There was also some intelligent responses when we asked male or female spirits to respond to our calls.”

The findings come after the group caught a number of ghostly images on camera during their first investigation in Ebbw Vale Workmens Hall last year.

Not only did they capture what appears to be two ghosts but also what they believe is the spirit of a dog – as well as several ghostly orbs.

The group, which has held investigations in locations including the Savoy theatre in Monmouth and the Embala in Ebbw Vale, now wants to make the lock-in an annual event to introduce more people to the paranormal.

Kimberly, 31, from Ebbw Vale said: “The more people we get involved, the most places we can go to.

“Children in Need is close to our heart and for a couple of people in the society it’s very personal and close to them so it’s great thing to give to.

“So far we have raised £350 and we still have donations coming in.”
