A MA­JOR VIC­TORY BOOSTS LLANTWIT

LLANTWIT Ma­jor se­cured a third win in four games as they edged past Goytre 2-1 in Nathaniel Car Sales Welsh League Divi­sion One, writes Jay Bay­ford.

They made the worst pos­si­ble start when the fell be­hind after just 20 sec­onds but Josh Jones found the equaliser be­fore An­thony Rawl­ings pro­duced the win­ner to hand all three points to Llantwit Ma­jor.

The vic­tory lifted them into the top half of the ta­ble.

It was an event­ful game at Pon­typridd Town as they lost 1-0 to Cam­brian & Cly­dach, who ended the game with just eight men on the pitch.

Sam Jones got the all-im­por­tant goal but was one part of the trio that saw red. Carn Thomas and Joe Evans were also dis­missed.

Mean­while, Afan Lido moved to the top of the ta­ble fol­low­ing a 4-1 win over Bri­ton Ferry Llan­sawel.

Mark Jones found the net twice with fur­ther strikes from Cai Owens and Noah Da­ley seal­ing the win. Luke Har­ris bagged Bri­ton Ferry’s goal.

Peny­bont were un­able to stop Lido over­tak­ing them as their fix­ture with Cw­mam­man United was post­poned due to the weather.

Mean­while, Goytre United went goal crazy as they hit Port Tal­bot Town for six.

Tom Wal­ters walked away with the match ball as he bagged a hat-trick in the 6-1 vic­tory.

Joe Hop­kins, Sam John­son and Cortez Belle for the other goals while Mor­gan Thomas fired in a con­so­la­tion for Port Tal­bot.

Else­where, Am­man­ford ended a run of four games with­out a win as they cruised to a 4-1 vic­tory over lowly Ton Pen­tre.

Liam Sa­muel, Mathew Fisher, Ricky Martin and Brett Enoch steered Am­man­ford to vic­tory while Leroy Thomas ru­ined Am­man­ford’s clean sheet in the dy­ing sec­onds with a late con­so­la­tion.

Undy Ath­letic’s trip to Cwm­bran Celtic and Taffs Well’s game with Haver­ford­west County fell foul of the weather.

In Divi­sion Two, Caerau Ely missed the chance to close the gap at the top of the ta­ble as they fell to a 2-1 de­feat at Mon­mouth Town.

Eli­jah Chilekwa got on the score­sheet for Ely but goals from Rory Johns and Rhod Lewis en­sured Mon­mouth took all three points.

STM Sports had no such prob­lems as they put in a five-star dis­play to beat Caldicot Town 5-2.

Josh Gra­ham, Joey Evans, Mar­cus Jones and Ben Al Mun were among the goal scor­ers.

Else­where, Nicky Hy­den was at the dou­ble as Swansea Univer­sity beat Di­nas Powys 3-0 while Croesy­ceil­iog moved five points clear with a 3-2 win over Risca United.

The weather con­tin­ued to play its part with West End’s trip to AFC Ll­wyd­coed, Aber­bar­goed Buds’ clash with Gar­den Vil­lage and Aber­gavenny Town’s fix­ture against Pon­tar­dawe Town all post­poned.

Most of the Divi­sion Three sched­ule was also called off but Pen­rhi­w­ceiber Rangers man­aged to grind out a 2-1 win at Ynysygerwn.

Ricky Carter and Bran­don Davies were both on tar­get to help lift Ceiber up to fourth.

The only other game saw Trefe­lin BGC beat Chep­stow Town 4-1 to move level with lead­ers Trethomas Blue­birds.

Matthew Hughes put Trefe­lin ahead with an early header be­fore adding a sec­ond shortly be­fore the break.

The at­tacker bagged his third of the af­ter­noon to claim the match ball be­fore Shaun Best sealed the win with a late fourth.

The games at AFC Porth, Al­bion Rovers, Caerau and Ely Rangers were all post­poned due to the weather.
