VW plays match­maker with Golf

VOLK­SWA­GEN is in­tro­duc­ing a Match model in the Golf range to re­place the SE and SE Nav­i­ga­tion trim lev­els.

The new ver­sions come with a dif­fer­ent al­loy wheel de­sign, front fog lamps, a Dis­cover nav­i­ga­tion sys­tem and tinted rear win­dows as stan­dard.

VW says that with the ex­tra equip­ment the Golf Match of­fers a sav­ing of £300 com­pared with the SE Nav­i­ga­tion model and in hatch­back form is priced from £20,150 for a 1.0-litre TSI.

The Golf Es­tate Match is priced from £22,385 and the Golf SV Match from £22,745, which are sav­ings over sim­i­larly-en­gined mod­els of more than £400 for Golf Es­tate SE, and Golf Es­tate SE Nav­i­ga­tion, and some £300 for Golf SV SE and SE Nav­i­ga­tion.

Golf Match mod­els are avail­able with an ar­ray of en­gine choices in­clud­ing the 1.0-litre TSI 115ps petrol; the 1.5-litre TSI with out­puts of ei­ther 130ps or 150ps and the 115ps 1.6-litre and 150ps 2.0-litre TDI diesels.

The Ger­man car maker is also en­hanc­ing the spec­i­fi­ca­tion of its hot Golf GTI Per­for­mance and R mod­els with the in­tro­duc­tion of key­less en­try, a rear view cam­era and a lane as­sist sys­tem as stan­dard on five-door mod­els.
