VW plays matchmaker with Golf

VOLKSWAGEN is introducin­g a Match model in the Golf range to replace the SE and SE Navigation trim levels.

The new versions come with a different alloy wheel design, front fog lamps, a Discover navigation system and tinted rear windows as standard.

VW says that with the extra equipment the Golf Match offers a saving of £300 compared with the SE Navigation model and in hatchback form is priced from £20,150 for a 1.0-litre TSI.

The Golf Estate Match is priced from £22,385 and the Golf SV Match from £22,745, which are savings over similarly-engined models of more than £400 for Golf Estate SE, and Golf Estate SE Navigation, and some £300 for Golf SV SE and SE Navigation.

Golf Match models are available with an array of engine choices including the 1.0-litre TSI 115ps petrol; the 1.5-litre TSI with outputs of either 130ps or 150ps and the 115ps 1.6-litre and 150ps 2.0-litre TDI diesels.

The German car maker is also enhancing the specificat­ion of its hot Golf GTI Performanc­e and R models with the introducti­on of keyless entry, a rear view camera and a lane assist system as standard on five-door models.
