From farmland and huge developments to plots for private homes, we look at some of the land that’s for sale in Rhondda Cynon Taf right now
WITH houses selling within 24 hours of hitting the market, you may be tempted to buy a plot of land or build your own.
Or are you in the market for some farmland, and need a place to keep your sheep?
You could also be eyeing up future developments, interested to see if a house builder has the potential to build a couple of hundred new homes in your town.
According to RightMove, there are more than 55 plots of land for sale in Rhondda Cynon Taf right now.
They range from small plots with pre-approved planning permission to farm land with conditions they can’t be used for future development. Some plots even feature listed and dilapidated buildings which could be converted into stunning dream homes.
We have taken a look at the best of what is on offer:
Aberaman: £150,000
This plot of land comes with the development of a listed building and already has planning permission from the council for five individual dwellings.
The former stables are located in Aberaman in the Cynon Valley and make a unique and quirky development opportunity. The plot is surrounded by new builds offering modern cul-de-sac surroundings.
Only cash buyers are invited to purchase this plot for £150,000 with Bidmead Cook.
Pontypridd: £845,000
In the market for a farm?
A modest bungalow in Cilfynydd comes with 131.68 acres of uphill farm land.
It is basically an entire mountainside and also comes with an outbuilding benefiting from power, water and plumbing as well as farm buildings suitable for housing livestock and storage from crops to machinery.
The farmland benefits from Common Grazing Rights on Mynydd Eglwysilan Common and also has a natural water supply.
The majority of the field enclosures do have a natural water supply available.
While the property can be bought in its entirety, there is also the option to divide it into lots.
It is suggested by Herbert R Thomas, Cowbridge, who are marketing this property, that this could be split into three lots.
The first lot would consist of Bodzwenarth

Blaenrhondda: £500,000
This potential development looks interesting, with not just a number of houses in proposed plans but room to build a whole new village, within a village.
Proposals on the 285,000 sq ft of land include 49 houses and seven small business starter units made up of four distinctive areas. It would include four-bedroom houses with large gardens which would be slightly elevated above the rest of the development to benefit from the surrounding views.
They would also be surrounded by already existing trees to offer some privacy.
The second area would consist of townhouses and a further area could include terraced homes. There is also the potential to build small two-storey high flats.
The land is being marketed by Richard Hayward Properties.
Tonypandy: £24,995
Looking for something a bit more modest with a smaller budget?
A plot of land is for sale in Pleasant View, Tonypandy, with stunning views over the valley. The end of the street plot has historic outline planning permission for a three-bedroom detached property so getting permission to build on this shouldn’t be too difficult.
The site is rectangular and slopes gently, being located on the former site of number 1 Pleasant View, Penrhiwfer, Rhondda.
Tonypandy in the Rhondda valley has excellent commuter links and is a short distance from Llantrisant and the M4.

Talbot Green: £349,950

Treorchy: £199,950
In one of the most sought-after residential areas in the Rhondda is this fantastic opportunity to purchase two plots of land with full planning consent for four-bedroom detached properties.
Glyncoli Close is a quiet and residential cul-de-sac side street which backs onto farmland and mountains with unspoilt views of the valley. According to estate agents Property Plus, plots in Treorchy are rarely available in such a location as this.

Mountain Ash: £675,000
Another farmland plot, this time made up of 222 acres of grazing land. It has potential for forestry, carbon sequestration, diversification and renewable uses.
The land at Penrhiw Caradog Farm has several small quarries and part of the land is included in the local development boundary plan.
Approximately 12 acres of woodland located to the north of the property is currently leased to Natural Resources Wales on a 999 year lease agreement for a nominal rent.
While the farmhouse, farm buildings and additional land don’t come with this sale, they are available through separate negotiation.
