Six-hitting Dairymen ease to an impressive triumph

-

LLANHARAN clinched WRU Division 3 Cup glory as they eased to victory over Porthcawl.

The Dairymen hit the Seagulls for six as they ran in half-a-dozen tries in a 44-3 triumph.

Llanharan are now unbeaten in 21 league and cup games this season and are guaranteed promotion back to One East Central after Caerphilly were beaten at Llantwit Fardre over the weekend.

Their next target is to win the Two East Central title and stay on course for the Silver Ball final.

Llanharan were dominant from minute one against a Porthcawl side coached by Wales internationals Ryan Bevington and Tom Prydie and cruised to glory.

It was 18-3 in Llanharan’s favour at half-time following tries from Jack Brooks and Jack Walker, with skipper and fly-half Scott Jones converting both and landing two penalties.

Walker scored when Llanharan beat Bryncethin two years ago in the WRU National Bowl final. They were promoted as Three East Central champions last season.

It was a tough test for Porthcawl and all they could muster in response after being outpowered and outplayed in the first half was a penalty from flyhalf Josh White.

The tries continued to flow after the break with left wing Joe Davies handing off a would-be tackler and rounding another before racing between the uprights. Jones converted for a 22-point lead.

Davies got a second try following another barnstorming sprint and later linked with full-back Michael Jones to put scrum-half Leon Burton over for a touchdown.

Jones converted both to take his points haul to 14 before Ieuan Evans rounded off an 80-metre move with the final try to provide the perfect climax for the Dairymen.
