Queen of laughs
QUEEN of comedy Victoria Wood stole the show at Buckingham Palace yesterday when she was awarded a CBE. But it wasn’t her first visit to the Palace – she was there in 1997 to receive an OBE.
Wood, 55, must certainly be getting accustomed to awards ceremonies. The creator and star of hit shows including As Seen On TV was named Writer of the Year in 2000 for her sitcom Dinnerladies.
Five years later she received a prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the British Comedy Awards.
With a winning streak like that, no wonder Victoria is finding plenty to smile about.
