‘Money can’t buy success’

FROM BACK PAGE have to say we have underachieved if you compare us with some of the other clubs.

“Martin Jol went for a job interview at Newcastle while he was employed by us. And there were clearly some issues in the dressing room between Juande and some of the players. The appointments we made have to be a factor. But it is not the sole factor in terms of winning a game – often it is luck or injuries.

“Ultimately, my responsibility is to make sure that the club are in a stable financial position.”

Levy announced Tottenham’s turnover went up by 11 per cent for the year ending in June and confirmed the club are planning to sell naming rights of their proposed new 60,000-seat stadium.

He promised the funding of the stadium will not affect new boss Harry Redknapp’s transfer budget, but is not anticipating an expensive January. “Harry has a group of international players that we believe are very talented,” said Levy. “In January we will see limited changes.”

MICHAEL DAWSON has escaped further suspension for protesting about his red card at Stoke, but received a warning as to his future conduct.
