French misconnection

ALL organisations are the same and it is no surprise that there are always gripes coming from staff at the BBC about the stars getting preferential treatment on trips away.

However, their rugby league coverage has been extremely egalitarian with most of those covering the World Cup in Australia being given almost identical apartments at a base in Sydney.

That, of course, can bring its own problems as top TV commentator Ray French appears to have discovered. He returned to his quarters after a long and tiring stint behind the microphone.

Something seemed wrong as he crashed out on his bed and an hour later he awoke with the realisation of what it was...someone had moved his slippers.

Further investigation revealed there was a rail of women’s clothes in the wardrobe where his own attire should have been.

Then he twigged it – he had somehow managed to get into the wrong room!
