Downfall of dad who blew £ 20,000 on daughter’s party

-

A DEVOTED father who showered his teenage daughter with lavish gifts – including a £ 20,000 “Super Sweet 16” birthday party – is bankrupt and now facing jail for contempt of court.

Anysha Panesar was given the celebritystyle birthday bash with guest singer Tulisa Contostavlos from N- Dubz and a personal video from Hollywood star Nicole Kidman.

Her high- spending businessman father Harby, who has a £ 500,000 house in the Vale of Glamorgan, then bankrolled Anysha’s dream to be a top teenage model and beauty queen.

Anysha went on to be crowned America’s Perfect Teen – and became the first international cover girl on Supermodels magazine.

Panesar, 45, bought his daughter a Gucci handbag, a £ 1,500 personalised mobile phone and a pair of £ 400 sunglasses.

He threw a Moulin Rouge- themed party and Anysha wore a £ 3,000 replica of a Nicole Kidman dress from the hit film. Musicians N- Dubz and DJ Ironik provided entertainment while there was a £ 500 rotating Moulin Rouge cake.

But Panesar’s financial empire has now crashed and a court has frozen his assets.

He and his wife Caroline, 43, face losing their luxury home and their six- acre estate in Wales. Anysha, now 18, who won Miss Teen Great Britain International in 2010, was keeping quiet yesterday but a friend said she was “supporting” her father through the crisis.

Panesar made his money through his insurance company Motorcare Warranties – which collapsed.

An investigation by the Financial Services Authority found that it had left a trail of victims whose breakdown policies were worthless.

A bankruptcy hearing in the High Court had banned Panesar from setting up a new business. But last week he was found in contempt of court by launching another company.

High Court judge Mr Justice Eder described the businessman’s actions as “wilful interference with the administration of justice”.

Sentence was adjourned until next month, but he warned: “All options remain open, including a sentence of imprisonment.” Anysha Panesar’s dream to be a top model was bankrolled by father Harby, left. Above, the family’s £ 500,000 home
