Fiennes is a legend to us

-

THE stars of the silver screen were out on Sunday eve for the Empire fi lm awards.

Ralph Fiennes, left, collected the Legend Award and told Day & Night he was still a humble actor despite his huge success in movies such as Schindler’s List, The English Patient, the Harry Potter fi lms and playing M in the James Bond series.

“I’ve never felt like a legend, I’m delighted,” said Ralph, 55. “It feels good to be honoured with this.” Oscar nominee Jessica

Chastain brought Hollywood glamour to the Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane to present Interstellar director

Christopher Nolan with the Inspiration Award. Nolan, 44, praised his producer wife Emma who is his “main inspiration”.

But while Daniel Radcliffe, Olga Kurylenko, left, and Simon

Pegg enjoyed the party others had work on the brain. Hayley Atwell, 32, who presented Best Newcomer to actress Karen Gillan, said she was having an early night to be up to get herself fi t for her ABC series Marvel’s Agent Carter in which she plays comic book heroine Peggy Carter.

“I’m training for my show so I’ve got to be up for 7am,” said Hayley. “I’m sure my trainer did it on purpose. It’s just as well because I’m wearing really high heels so if I start to drink I wouldn’t be able to get up to present an award!”

And Peter Capaldi, 56, was no doubt wishing he could time travel like his alter ego: “I’m in the middle of Doctor Who at the moment so I can’t stay. I’m going back to Cardiff shortly to fi lm,” he said.

“My hand’s dead from signing autographs but it’s nice, everyone’s lovely.”
