Police discover body of triple murder suspect

- By John Chapman and John Twomey

TRIPLE killer Jed Allen who stabbed to death his six- year- old sister, their mother and her partner was found dead yesterday.

Two walkers found the body of the hunted 21- year- old in woodland close to Oxford University’s most historic colleges.

There was speculation he had hanged himself or took an overdose hours after hacking his victims in a savage attack.

The gruesome discovery came on the second day of police searches in the area around University Parks where hulking, tattooed Allen once worked as a groundsman.

Detective Superintendent Chris Ward, of Thames Valley Police major crime unit, said: “While no formal identification has taken place, I am satisfied that this is the body of Jed Allen.

“Our investigation continues but we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the murders.”

Mr Ward told a packed press conference the body was found in a wooded area in Marston Road, Oxford, just before 5pm.

He added: “This is an area that had not been previously searched by police.

Condolences

“I would like to offer my condolences to all the family of the victims in this tragic case.”

Allen, a knife- obsessed bodybuilder, slaughtered six- year- old Derin Jordon – known as Dezzy – their mother Jan Jordon, 48, and her boyfriend Philip Howard, 44, at their home in Didcot, nine miles south of Oxford, on Saturday afternoon.

He then went to Didcot railway station where he calmly boarded a train to Oxford at 5.24pm. Dressed in a dark hooded jacket, Allen then casually strolled into a branch of WH Smith at Oxford station and bought a bottle of water.

The killer was filmed by a CCTV camera as he left the shop before setting off for the University Parks.

The footage was timed just over two hours before the bodies were found at around 8.20pm on Saturday. A suspected murder weapon, a knife, was found at the scene.

Stocky six footer Allen had several tattoos including a large, black spider on the back of his left hand.

Postings on social media showed him to be a young man tormented by inner fury. Friends said he was prone to uncontrollable rages and had attempted to punch holes in walls at home.

He was “known to police” but officers declined to reveal details of his record. Some friends suggested his anger was partly due to his failure to deal with the break- up of his parents’ marriage.

In recent months, he ranted on social media about his life and how he was “fed up of being treated like dirt” by women and at work.

He made dozens of short films in the past year. In one he screamed wildly into the camera and said: “This is a mad house. I can’t take it any more.” A family photograph emerged yesterday of Allen cradling baby Derin around five years ago.

The smiling, fresh- faced schoolboy is in sharp contrast to the scowling young man who appears on Allen’s Facebook page.

In several pictures, he is pictured clutching vicious- looking knives and an axe. In one, he poses as the Wolverine character from the X- Men movie, clutching three claw- like blades between the fingers of each hand. He even had a Wolverine cake for his 21st birthday.

Allen posed with an eight- inch knife and posted them on Instagram with the caption: “You call that a knife? Haha It’s a gooden.”

Under the picture of a knuckleduster, he wrote: “Five finger death punch.”

On his Facebook page, Allen suggested he was in a gay relationship with a young man. Police revealed news of Allen’s death shortly after Derin’s tearful classmates had gathered at All Saints primary school in Didcot, where the little girl was a Year One pupil.

Headmaster John Myers paid tribute to their “beautiful, happy, smiley” friend.

He said the reaction had been “devastation, shock, sadness”. And he added: “It’s just a combination of so many emotions, it’s such a terrible tragedy.

“Anybody’s life is precious and to lose parents and particularly a young girl in such a dreadful manner is truly awful.”

Parents with young children on half- term holiday flocked to the school. Many were in tears as teddy bears and flowers were left in a sad tribute.

Teachers who had been away on holiday had “driven through the night” so they could lend their support, Mr Myers said.

He said: “We have a little prayer corner inside. The children write down their memories and we have candles burning.”

The head added that there had been no indication of trouble in the tragic family, saying: “They were a perfectly normal, happy family.”
