Mountain fall victim dies
A BRITISH grandmother has died after falling down a steep embankment in a mountain vineyard in Cyprus and lying trapped for four days.
Pauline Pidcock, 64, was on a day trip while on holiday in Paphos with her husband Bob.
The retired maths teacher, who suffered from epilepsy, vanished last Wednesday after staying on a coach while the rest of her party visited the village of Omodos 50 miles from Nicosia.
Rescue teams, friends and relatives launched a massive search. She was found on Saturday after a vineyard worker heard cries.
Mrs Pidcock, from Plymouth in Devon, regained consciousness in hospital but then her condition deteriorated.
Doctors believe she may have suffered a heart attack or organ failure due to dehydration.
Mr Pidcock and their daughter Emily were at her hospital bedside in Limassol when she died yesterday.
